Pharmacyclics Announces Initiation of Single Agent Xcytrin Phase 2 Clinical Trial in Recurrent, Metastatic Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

Pharmacyclics, Inc. has initiated a phase 2 clinical trial of Xcytrin (motexafin gadolinium) injection, the company's lead cancer therapeutic candidate, as a second-line treatment for patients with recurrent, metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). The trial will enroll 108 patients at 12 sites across the US and Canada. Xcytrin as an anti-cancer agent with a novel mechanism of action that is designed to selectively concentrate in tumors and induce apoptosis.
